Track 1 presents three compositions within a single performance. "Flt. rate modulation solo for horn" uses a small microtonal pitch gamut spanning four semitones wherein each pitch is articulated via flutter-tonguing, the flutter rate being determined by the amplitude of each individual attack (as specified in the score). "Untitled pulse-train and pitch inflections solo for flute" similarly uses a small microtonal pitch gamut, though articulation is uniform throughout and focuses on clusters of regular periodicity intermittently disrupted by irrationally proportioned gaps. "Kieran's third neuron cluster studies" is a piece for adaptive live electronics using analog circuitry interconnected to generate nonlinear oscillations via feedback wherein parameters of such oscillations are extracted via comparators, slew limiters, variable integrators, envelope followers, etc. to generate control signals for modulating those same nonlinear oscillation parameters.

Tracks 2-3 are for the same instrument (electric guitar) and 2-channel multitrack recorder. One track is improvised and maintains a single texture throughout, e.g. quasi-periodic microtonal portamenti with slight variation to its envelope structure and played at constant low dynamic. Upon playback, a second improvisation is overdubbed onto the initial track, deploying the same textural criteria for performance. Track 2 maintains a general heterophonic texture, while track 3 maintains a micropolyphonic texture.

For track 4, each instrument in the trio performs variably long and short duration glissandi which span no more than 50 cents upon each attack. Attacks are separated by variably large gaps (~30 bpm). The fixed media comprises bulb horn samples from Cartoon Trax Volume 1-3 (Hollywood Edge 1992).

Track 5 is an unaccompanied improvisation for electric guitar focusing on fretboard & string collisions ('fret buzz') under microtonal pitch modulation and statistically normal attack amplitude distribution.
